In the midst of a family crisis, a teenage girl tries to escape her troubled life by running to her best friend, where love and acceptance are taken for granted.
Jayla is an exceptional teenaged girl, haunted by a violent family life, trying to navigate her bi-racial existence in a world riddled with racial tension. One day, after trying to block out the constant noise of her parents arguing, she makes her way to the other side of the tracks where her best friend lives. Natalie’s really got it all – loving and supportive parents, expensive clothes, big house, latest cell phone – everything a typical teen could ever ask for. After displaying yet another outburst of ingratitude toward her mother, Natalie is shown the error of her ways by Jayla who knows all too well the struggles faced by those who do not live in the lap of luxury…
